why this, why now

Companies are monetizing loneliness with AI. Weird times. Meanwhile irl, people are having less sex than ever, drifting from their friends, and performing not only on the apps but with the people they love. We forget the armor we're wearing.

Haven't you felt that? The exhaustion of being "on." The quiet grief of suspecting that you’re loved for a performance of you; the consent rituals that keep us safe, and leave us unmet.

So much has been said in the news, op-eds, Substacks, podcasts. But not enough art. Art is how we actually build a new normal. Not as resistance, but imagining it, together. We are making this film: a story of the mortifying ordeal of being known. Join us. Help us tell it well.
